As a self-confessed exfoliation junkie this new product from Aspect Skincare excites me. Get Glowing Skin with Aspect Illuminating Polish. This triple-action exfoliant that has a combination of Ecoscrub, enzymes and AHA's to gently polish your skin gently removing dead skin cells from the surface of the skin, to instantly reveal a smoother, more radiant complexion.
Our skin has its own natural exfoliation process called desquamation. Desquamation is the natural process in which skin cells are created, they shed, and are then replaced. This process happens in the epidermis (outer layer of the skin) and occurs approximately every 30 days.
As we get older, the skin’s ability to shed these lifeless cells slows down, and this can lead to a build-up of dead skin cells. This can then leave you with a dry, dull complexion or blocked pores and congestion. it can also stop your skincare from entering the skin properly, limiting the full benefits and results of your treatment products.
This is when exfoliating is very important, to assist in removing the build-up of lifeless cells, illuminate complexion and prepare the skin for application of active ingredients.
There are three types of exfoliation, all with a very different action.
Physical Exfoliation: A Physical exfoliant is granular, and they manually remove dead skin cells.
Chemical Exfoliation: Chemical exfoliants are ingredients that cause a chemical reaction to break down the “glue” that holds dead skin cells to the skin’s surface. The most common types of chemical exfoliants are alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs), beta-hydroxy acids (BHA), and poly-hydroxy acids (PHAs).
Enzymatic Exfoliation: Enzymatic exfoliants come from natural sources like fruits. The most common Enzymes used to exfoliate the skin are pineapple and papaya enzymes.
Aspect Illuminating Polish combines all these three types of exfoliation in one product. It’s suitable for all skin types and can be used all over the face and body. Perfect to use on those annoying dry spots such as on knees and elbows.
